Watch the Digital Ammo Counter on your gun and make sure to Reload when the counter displays a Low Ammo count
Reloading takes a few moment leaving you vulnerable, so it is better that you actively reload when you can.
If you run completely out of ammo while the Xenomorphs are attacking you, and you carry no more ammo to reload, switch to your Pistol and RUN!
