Escape Pods are small pods which allow the crew to evacuate from the ship in case of a disaster
These pods can carry only a small amount of people and can either float in space or land at a nearby planet.
Once launched, pods emit a distress signal which can be picked by by other spacecraft nearby.
In the mission Sulaco Falls, many of these escape pods get launched from the USS Sulaco following a catastrophic fusion overload which leads to the destruction of the Sulaco.
