Benjamin Church in the Green Dragon

Benjamin Church (1734 - 1778) was one of the five original men recruited to the Temple Order by Grand Master Haytham Kenway. He was recruited for his resourcefulness, intelligence and cunning. He led Haytham to Silas Thatcher, a Slaver who was taking natives, which became the basis for Haytham's plan to find the local Precursor Site.

Benjamin Church is a Harvard Graduate and a practiced surgeon. While many took up this profession out of compassion, Church seemed more interested in the profits. This is the trait that seems to bring about his downfall years later.

He served with the Continental Army until 1778 when he defected to the British Army. He had grown very wealthy in the intervening years and was put-off when Congress sacked his house to help pay for the war drive. He was later caught and accused of spying for the British. He responded that he was passing them falsified information to deter their attacks. Regardless he was imprisoned for this actions. When he was released he abandoned both the Continental Army and the Templar order. To cripple the Army more he, with his accomplices, stole a shipment of supplies bound for the army. These actions bring both Kenway and Connor after him and result in his death.
