Initial installation requires one-time internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game) include Steam Client, DirectX 9, Microsoft .NET 4 Framework, Visual C++ Redistributable 2005, Visual C++ Redistributable 2008, Visual C++ Redistributable 2010, and AMD CPU Drivers (XP Only/AMD Only)

Important Notice for AMD Dual-Core Users[edit]

The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer is additional software, included with the game, that is required for use with single-socket AMD Dual-Core processors.

Users with single-socket AMD Dual-Core processors will need to manually install the Dual-Core Optimizer by launching amdcpusetup.exe from the \Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist\AMD\ folder.

By default, this folder is located in:

32-bit Windows C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist\AMD\

64-bit Windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist\AMD\
