Extinction mode in Call of Duty: Ghosts

Extinction Mode is a brand new co-op mode that appears for the first time in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

This mode pits players against aliens, a brand new frontier for the series.

Rules of Extinction[edit]

Extinction appears to be a simple hoard mode, but at its heart there are more complex rules.

Players must cooperate to eliminate a series of Alien Hives from the map. These Hives spawn Aliens through eggs, so it's very important that they be destroyed, or else the earth could be overrun.

To destroy a Hive, players have to hook up a Drill. The drill will penetrate to the core of the hive and launch a bomb into it, killing it for good. The drill takes time, however, and players must protect it while it works. The drill can break or malfunction, at which point players will need to restart it. If the drill is destroyed or if all players die, the game is over. If one player dies, another player can revive him/her.

Players[edit]

Extinction is playable by up to four players.

Splitscreen co-op is available.
