Dead Space 3 is the sci-fi action/horror sequel to EA and Visceral Games's successful Dead Space and Dead Space 2. The title continues the story of Isaac Clarke as he battles the evil Necromorphs, along with a religious sect of Unitology fanatics who worship the mutated beasts and the Marker from which they spawn.

In Dead Space 3, another marker has been discovered on the ice planet of Tau Volantis.

Gameplay Changes[edit]

Dead Space 3 adds several new gameplay features to the established running and gunning horror formula. The most significant of these is the addition of human enemies; for the first time in the series, players will do battle against human Unitologists as well as mutated Necromorphs. These enemies are armed with automatic and semi-automatic weaponry, necessitating the other big gameplay change. Players can now take cover and fire over and around it in order to avoid being damaged by enemy fire. This functions similarly to cover in games like Gears of War and Army of Two.

Dead Space 3 is also the first game in the series to add co-op play to the mix. The second player will take on the role of John Carver, an Earthgov Sergeant who gets sucked into investigating the Marker on Tau Volanus. The two characters don't always get along, and Carver doubts Isaac's motives; Isaac himself is largely motivated to search the planet on behalf of Ellie, who has gone missing since the last game. The story will actually change depending on whether or not two players are present.
