Dead Space 3 is the first game in EA and Versceral Games' Dead Space series to function with Microsoft's Kinect add-on for the Xbox 360.
Details of the Functionality[edit]
Although the Kinect is known primarily for its motion and gesture based controls, Dead Space 3 uses neither.
Instead, the game makes use of voice commands.
It has been stated in the past that Dead Space 3 equipped with the Kinect is capable of recognizing players' swear words when they curse in fear or frustration. What, exactly, will happen when the game does recognize a player's swearing has yet to be specified, although word is expected to quickly spread after the game's February release.
In addition to this rather novel use of the Kinect, more standard voice commands will be recognized.
