Evolving Husk of the Pit[edit]

You must have attained Crota's Bane Reputation Rank 3 with at least one Guardian. This allows you to buy the upgrade material: Embalming Orb. Once you have completed the Cannibalism upgrade, you can apply that Orb and it will grow into an Eidolon Ally, a Legendary Auto Rifle.

Obtaining Husk of the Pit[edit]

Husk of the Pit

While TECHNICALLY a common, this is actually closer to a legendary or Exotic drop. This weapon can only be obtained by obtained by killing the Blades of Crota. The spawn randomly around Earth and the Moon. Unlikely most weapons, this one is directly added to your inventory as soon as you get it. Pay attention for it! It can help to have multiple characters but it can take a lot of effort to get just one.

The best method of trying to get the Husk of the Pit is in the starting mission of the The Dark Below: Fist of Crota. Summon your Sparrow and head into the open doorway on the left. Follow it through to the left then boost across the area where the the Hive and the Fallen are fighting. Go through the Refinery until you find the 3 Acolyte engaged in a Ritual. Either wait for them to finish or blast them (the ritual will finish either way). This will summon a Blade of Crota. Defeat it and the Acolytes (if they're still around).

Repeating this farming is easier than it seems. When you kill the Blade of Crota, DO NOT GO TO ORBIT! Make a break for the Grottos after that, simply ignore the Hive in the next room. You will enter a Darkness Zone and encounter Sardon, Fist of Crota. Let him kill you. When you respawn, backtrack to the stairs just past where you encountered the Acolyte performing the ritual. You will see the message for the ritual appear. Return to the Ritual Site and deal with the resulting Acolytes and Blade of Crota. The only complication here is you will also need to deal with a few waves of Thralls rushing in from the other room.

Rinse and repeat.
