The "Searing Flames" status is one of many in the game of Destiny. It is unique to the Urrox's Grudge.

While the Searing Flames status is active, any Guardian in contact with the floor will take Solar Damage.
Titans can use Lift to keep themselves airborne throughout the whole process. With Blessing of Light, they can also use their Super to protect the Fire Team and let them simply absorb most of the damage from the Searing Flames.
Warlocks can use Glide to easily suspend themselves above the floor. You can mix this with Angel of Light to help suspend yourself above the floor.
Hunters have it the hardest. Using the Gunslinger's ability to Triple Jump is one of your best bets to keep above the floor long enough. If you have Bone of Eao equipped as your Exotic Armor for this portion, then you can manage up to 4 jumps!
