EU IV Message Dialogue
EUIV Message Filter Settings

Sitting right on top of the Hint Mode bar is the Message Dialogue. Here, messages arrive from all over the known world, keeping you well informed about your neighbors, friends and enemies.

Whenever a country in the known world declares a war, enforces or accepts a peace, forms a dynastic marriage, changes their religious point of view or takes any number of actions that you might find worthwhile to know, a message alert will appear here. These messages are not just for foreign news; your own domestic news will appear here as well – everything from completed buildings to religious uprisings.

However, left to its own devices, the Message Dialogue can easily wind up overwhelming you with information, especially if your neighbors are both numerous and active, as you might find if you are located in the middle of Europe. Should you find the total number of messages overwhelming, reducing the usefulness of the Message Dialogue, or if you find yourself needing to sort through them just to keep track of a few specific countries, then you might wish to filter the messages.

You can adjust the messages that concern you directly, those that affect Interesting Nations, or ones that impact any foreign nations. The envelope tucked under the flag will open the Messages filter settings Interface, where you can customize which nations you find interesting and wish to watch more closely.

This allows you to use the filter options to focus on the doings of the dangerous and powerful Ottoman Empire without having to hear all about the pointless diplomatic flailing of the doomed Lords of Naxos. Hovering your mouse over a message will produce a tooltip detailing the event, be it a peace treaty, a newly-forged alliance, or even just some new individual you might hire as an advisor
