Go to Diamond City is a quest objective in the mission Jewel of the Commonwealth in Fallout 4.

Diamond City is located southeast of Sanctuary. It is a long journey there, though.

Diamond City is the largest settlement in the Commonwealth. It's the best place to begin the search for Shaun.

It's been suggested I search for Shaun in Diamond City, which is the biggest settlement of the Commonwealth. Someone there may know something. I should head to Diamond City, which is a long ways southeast of Sanctuary.

Walkthrough[edit]

Head southeast from Sanctuary towards Diamond City.
Diamond City is pretty far from Vault 111 and Sanctuary. Use the map on your Pip-Boy to help you navigate.
You can stop on locations on the way to check for loot or do and side quests, or you can choose to just rush towards the city.
There will be enemies, mines, and other dangers along the way, so it is recommended you save often, especially if your character is at a very low level.
Once you get closer to Diamond City, look for the arrows and signs directing you to the entrance.
When you arrive at the Main Gate, talk to Piper and help her gain access into the city.

Strategy Guide/Tips[edit]

Do NOT attack Diamond City Security! Try not to fire on them, even by accident. Diamond City Security is a neutral faction to you at this stage, and if you fire on them they will become hostile, making it harder for you to reach Diamond City and complicating your life while you are in the city. If you accidentally hit them, it is best for you to load your latest save.

Piper: What do you mean you can't open the gate? Stop playing around, Danny! I'm standing out in the open, for crying out loud!
Danny: (Intercom) I got orders not to let you in, Ms. Piper. I'm sorry, I'm just doing my job.
Piper: Just doing your job? Protecting Diamond City means keeping me out, is that it? Oh look, it's the scary reporter! Boo!
Danny: (Intercom) I'm sorry, but Mayor Mconough's really steamed, Piper. Sayin' that article you wrote was all lies. The whole city's in a tizzy.
Piper: Agh.. you open this gate, right now, Danny Sullivan! I live here. You can't just lock me out. sigh. I know you're listening, Danny! Open the gate. (to player) You. You want into Diamond City, right?
Player: I just got here, but yeah.
Piper: Shh. Play along. What was that? You said you're a trader up from Quincy? You have enough supplies to keep the general store stocked for a whole month? Huh. You hear that, Danny? You gonna open the gate and let us in? Or are you going to be the one talking to crazy Myrna about losing out on all this supply?
Danny: (Intercom) Geez, all right. No need to make it personal, Piper. Give me a minute.
Piper: Better head inside before ole' Danny catches on to the bluff.
Player: This place, Diamond City... What is it?
Piper: Oh, the "green jewel"? She's a sight. Everyone who'se anyone in the Commonwealth is from here, settled here, or got kicked out of here. A big wall, some power, working plumbing, schools, and some Security Goons are what make Diamond City the big monster it is. Heh. Love it or hate it. You'll see for yourself, soon enough. Let's go.
McDonough: Piper! Who let you back inside! I told Sullivan to keep that gate shut! You devious, rabble-rousing slanderer! The... the level of dishonesty in that paper of yours! I'll have that printer scrapped for parts.
