Inside you will see Trappers. These Trappers can be talked to.
By passing a Medium Charisma Check, you can peacefully resolve the situation. The Trappers will tell the Sole Survivor that they encountered the wounded person you are looking for. They will admit finding someone wounded way too tempting to pass up. They killed and ate him but kept the head.
Otherwise, simply approach the Trappers and start shooting them. The one by the door has the Synth's head that you are looking for. Clear out the Trappers and collect the head.
