This portion of the quest will play out somewhat different depending on what you told the Mariner to do about the Red Death. It will always be an enthusiastic welcome back from Red Death Island. The differences start once the story gets told.
Telling the truth, the Harbormen will start to mock both the Mainlander and the Mariner.
Lying that you could not find the Red Death will have the Harbormen breath a sigh of relief that you could not find it. Most will suspect that both of you would have died for certain.
Making it a Legend will awe the Harbormen. Like any good tale, it will grow rather quickly. The Mariner will stumble a bit telling it.
