Occasionally, as players explore Far Cry 3's open world of Rook Island, they will stumble upon Rakyat hostages being taken by the pirates or Hoyt's soldiers.
The exact destination of these grim parades is unknown, although given that the hostages are always of Rakyat descent, a killing field or mass grave seems the most likely; the only hostages that Vaas and his crew keep around any longer than it takes to kill them are typically foreigners with rich relatives.
Freeing the Hostages[edit]
The player can free the hostages by killing the guards. This can be done either loudly, with guns and grenades, or silently using takedowns.
Once freed, the hostages will flee. The player will receive no reward other than the feeling of a job well done for freeing the hostages.
