Pirate Outposts are spread throughout Rook Island in Far Cry 3
An outpost can be identified from afar or from Radio Towers by the Black Smokestacks coming out of it, as well as the red flag.
You can capture an outpost to gain control of parts of the island. Otherwise, areas will stay under pirate control and show up in red color on your map. When you move around enemy controlled areas you might be ambushed or hit a pirate road block.
Taking over an outpost and reclaiming the land for you and the locals will make it easier to move around the island.
You can use stealth or go in guns blazing, or use other tactics to capture the outposts. Try to prevent the enemy from reaching the Alarm Box and sounding the Alarm

The outposts are strongholds found throughout Rook Island. Vaas' pirates hold them to control the surrounding area.
