A Little Diversion is an objective in the Story Mission, Mad Rush in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Description[edit]

”Avalanche HQ operatives storm the scene, as they were coincidentally launching an assault of the 7-9 Annex at the same time. Amidst the chaos that ensues, Cloud and Biggs escape the annex.”

Walkthrough[edit]

  • Head forward around the corner toward the opening in the fence in front of you.
  • This starts a long fight, so be ready to use everything you have.
  • Immediately, Cloud is dealing with 3 Security Officers.
  • Use your area attacks (holding the attack button) to eliminate nearly all of them quickly.
  • After that, get the last one, if he ran, and start dodging toward the next trio to take down.
  • 1 more group is immediately nearby that you should eliminate.
  • After that, the Security officers are scattered around the area, hunting both Biggs and Wedge.
  • Getting through this group will bring out the next wave of soldiers: Grenadiers (and more Security Officers).
  • Taking these few Grenadiers out will trigger a cutscene with Turrets being brought out.
  • Cloud will want to remain focused on the troops in front of him and need to let Biggs deal with the turrets that are out of his reach.
  • Instead, you will need to deal with the Riot Trooper and Elite Security Officer who come after Cloud.
  • Remember, the Riot Trooper needs to be hit with a Grenade or any Magic (Preferably Fire) to break his guard and do damage to him.
  • Save at least 1 ATB bar for the next round
  • Defeating these 2 will have Biggs push the first turret off the rooftop, removing it as a threat.
  • The next few enemies come after that: Shock Trooper and Elite Grenadier.
  • Defeat this group and Biggs will take down the other launcher.
  • A cutscene will run just after that, showing the release of a dozen Guard Dogs that start attacking Cloud.
  • Thankfully Wedge will come running through to draw them off, reducing the number that Cloud is fighting.
  • Defeat the 3 remaining Guard Dogs to trigger the next part of the fight.
  • Using Punisher Mode can be a great idea since the Guard Dogs are melee focused.
  • Triple Slash can be great here for its area of effect and increasing damage throughout the attack to thin the overall numbers.
  • The next part of the fight as Cloud against a pair of Sweepers that you need to defeat.
  • Attack to build up ATB before using spells to stagger 1 to then pile damage onto.
  • Be sure to heal as needed and watch, potentially, the Summon Gauge to known when you can call in your Summon.
  • Hitting the Sweepers with Lighting will stun them for a short time, giving you an opening.
  • If possible, get them to move onto the mines the Wedge has set all around the area to inflict some heavy damage.
  • After that, you will find Roche breaking in to fight with Cloud.
  • He does start the fight by giving Cloud an Elixir, refilling both his Health and HP.
  • Use Punisher mode to move in attack and block to do heavy damage against him.
  • Getting through the first part of his health will have stumble back a bit.
  • This brings you to the second part of the fight, having you go against his lunge attack.
  • This lunge attack has a lead in of Roche bringing his arm across his body before moving very quickly.
  • Block as he is coming in to reduce the damage from the attack and return some damage.
  • This can interrupt most abilities and spells.
  • Remember to use Focused Thrust to increase Roche's stagger gauge an ample amount.
  • If you need to heal, dodge his thrust attack and immediately use the item or Cura.
  • Any time you stagger, if possible, use your Abilities or your Limit break to get massive damage in.
  • After that, this can lead to victory over Roche.
  • More Sweepers will come out before Roche takes them down to give everyone a chance to leave the area.
  • Now, another cell of Avalanche will attack the Annex.
