Five Stars is the highest Wanted Level in Grand Theft Auto V

A continued pursuit with four stars will eventually give the player a five-stars wanted level, the highest wanted level in the game. The streets will now be filled with police personnel and feature almost no, if any, civilian traffic; numerous police cars and NOOSE vehicles will hunt for the player and set up multiple roadblocks at a time. At five stars, an indefinite number of police and military vehicles, as well as up to three Police Mavericks, will be chasing the player, although usually only two will be deployed at any one time. Police or military will not attempt a vehicular arrest unless a pursuit has lasted for approximately one minute without hurting any cop or soldier and the player stops their vehicle. A significantly higher proportion of NOOSE units will be involved when compared to four stars. Going to Fort Zancudo will instantly give the player a five-stars wanted level.

Causes of 5-star wanted level in GTA V include:
- Pedestrians
- Continuing to kill people after 4 stars.
- Police
- Continuing to retaliate against law enforcement after 4 stars.
- Killing a large number of police or military personnel.
- Attacking and/or killing a prison guard protecting Bolingbroke Penitentiary while inside the prison's perimeter.
- Continuing to retaliate against law enforcement after 4 stars.
- Vehicles
- Continuing to destroy vehicles after 4 stars.
- Destroying a large number of cars, boats, bikes, helicopters, or other vehicles.
- Continuing to destroy vehicles after 4 stars.
- Miscellaneous Crimes
- Trespassing in the Fort Zancudo military base.
- Flying over Fort Zancudo for a prolonged period of time.
- Firing a missile from a Buzzard or P-996 LAZER within the runways of Los Santos International Airport or at Fort Zancudo or at Bolingbroke Penitentiary or at Humane Labs and Research or at Los Santos Golf Club.
- Trespassing in the Fort Zancudo military base.
Consequences[edit]
The consequences of the 5-Stars Wanted level are severe, and include:
- Multiple Police Helicopters join the pursuit. At night, the helicopters will track you with a Spotlight
- The Police and FIB agents shoot your vehicle attempting to disable it
- Police and FIB drive extremely aggressive, attempting to ram into your vehicle or cause you to spin out of control
- NOOSE Agents set up roadblocks randomly
- Extent of Law Enforcement forces chasing you is vastly increased
