GameGavel was founded on March 2008 by Mike Kennedy. The site was originally named chasethechuckwagon.com, after the rare Atari 2600 game cartridge. In 2009, Mike Kennedy acquired the domain GameGavel.com and the site name was changed to what it is at present. Mike Kennedy is one of three hosts for a popular podcast called The Retro Gaming Roundup.
