Approaching a space anomaly in No Man Sky (NMS)

WARNING: This entry may contain spoilers.

Overview[edit]

The Space Anomaly is a special type of anomoly location in No Man's Sky.

You will be led to the first space anomaly as you progress through the game, leave the first planet, and develop a warp drive to find a space anomoly.

Look for the "Anomaly Detected" message on the HUD that indicates that a waypoint to the space anomaly has been added to your galactic map.

How to find Space Anomalies[edit]

When you get the message "Anomaly Coordinates Received" a separate path will appear in your galactic map for warping. At the end of said path is where you find your space anomaly.

Choices[edit]

When you talk to Priest Entity Nada, he offers you three space anomaly choices to choose from:

(NOTE: Also see "Strategy Guide/Tips" section at the bottom of the page for more info about these choices)

Resources to aid exploration[edit]

Choosing "Resources to aid exploration" will award you a random blueprint. If you already have the blueprint, Nada awards units instead.

Find a shortcut to the center[edit]

Choose "Find a shortcut to the center" to locate a black hole which MAY get you a lot closer to the center.

Resume the path of the Atlas[edit]

The choice of "Resume the path of the Atlas" will let you Continue with the Path of the Atlas. The priest will mark the next destination on your galactic map.

Polo[edit]

In Space Anomalies you can talk to the Gek NPC called Polo.

Talk to Specialist Polo and he will offer you a blueprint in exchange for some data.

When you first meet Polo you will always get Atlaspass V1.

Other blueprints will have different conditions such as having learned some alien words, meeting a number of alien NPCs, having earned credits, number of pirates killed and so on.

Polo Rewards[edit]

Polo will give the player specific blueprint rewards each time they are talked to for the first time.

Visit Reward
1 AtlasPass v1
2 Ricochet Sigma
3 Homingbolt Adaptor
4 Homing Grenade
5 Railshot Adaptor
6 Warp Reactor Sigma
7 Ricochet Tau
8 Jetpack Booster Tau
9 Rebound Grenades
10 Warp Reactor Tau
11 Ricochet Theta
12 AtlasPass v2
13 Jetpack Booster Theta
14 AtlasPass v3
15 Rebound Grenades Tau
16 Warp Reactor Theta

Atlas Passes[edit]

Polo will ask for certain levels of your milestones. These will be the same as on your Journey page, from top to bottom. Once he asked for every milestone once (about level 3-5 for each) he will start from the top again and ask for level 7, 10 for creature discovery. Here's where the Passes come into play.

When he gets to the last half of the milestones again, he will give you Atlas Pass V2. On the second or third to last milestone he will give you V3.

You have to visit a few anomalies, but you will do that anyways on your journey.

Atlas Interfaces[edit]

Priest Nada will mark the location of the next Atlas In the Atlas Interface you learn some alien words, get warp cells, and an Atlas Stone from the shrine.

In order to get the Atlas Stone you will need to have passed several milestones:

Atlas Stone Journey Rank
Atlas Stone #1 Juno (10 Milestones)
Atlas Stone #2 Juno (10 Milestones)
Atlas Stone #3 Rosetta (15 Milestones)
Atlas Stone #4 Cassini (20 Milestones)
Atlas Stone #5 Kepler (25 Milestones)
Atlas Stone #6 Dawn (30 Milestones)
Atlas Stone #7 Curiosity (35 Milestones)
Atlas Stone #8 Hubble (40 Milestones)
Atlas Stone #9 Viking (45 Milestones)
Atlas Stone #10 Magellan (50 Milestones)

Multi-tool[edit]

There is a multi-tool in the Space Anomaly, Next to where Polo usually stands on the right side in a metal column that opens up. See screenshot below. Credit for that screenshot goes to /u/ReyGonJinn from the /r/NoMansSkyTheGame subreddit.

The blue arrow points to the location of the multi-tool.

Approach the column and it will open up and you will be given a chance to buy a cool new multi-tool.

Strategy Guide/Tips[edit]

  • When you visit an Atlas station and jump away from that system afterwards, an anomaly will ALWAYS spawn in the next system.
  • When not visiting Atlas stations, anomalies will appear once per 2 hours, usually right after a warp jump, but sometimes even while waiting in one system.
  • The blueprint given by Priest Entity Nada or Polo will sometimes be one that you already have.
  • Going through black holes will damage at least one of your ships components.
  • It is recommended you do not sell your atlas stones.
