Pillars of Eternity I Histories you can choose in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

Your character's history plays an important part in the game Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire.

Overview[edit]

Your history basically is the decisions that your character made in the first game, Pillars of Eternity I.

It will affect how the story develops, determine your dialog options, or more.

At the beginning of the game you have a chance to assign the history to your character, when meeting with the Pallid Knight.

You have three options for choosing your character history:

  • Import PoE1 save: If you played the first installment you can just import your decisions to your current character.
  • Use history presets: You can choose one of six pre-set objects
  • Create your own: You can create an entire new history by walking through the decisions of the first game. This is done by going to the options menu in the game menu.

History Pre-Sets[edit]

  • Benevolent Soul:In this history you were the "Hero" and "Good Guy", always doing good and helping everyone you can, trying to do the right thing and showing mercy to all even enemies.
  • Fair and Balanced: In this history you tried to be good but you realized some that you needed to make some decisions even if it involved hurting others.
  • Survival of the Fittest: In this history you thought only about your survival even if it meant leaving the weak to terrible fates.
  • Dark Times: In this history you were pure evil, killing and hurting everyone for your own interests.
  • Keeper of Secrets: You see yourself as a sort of god, you consider yourself more important then everyone around you, and you bring this sort of cavalier attitude into the game, acting as if all others are beneath you.
  • Everything Bad: Nothing worked for you in the first game, you tried but everything went wrong...

Strategy Guide/Tips[edit]

  • It is recommended that new players choose "Benevolent Soul" or "Fair and Balanced"
  • If you want an extra challenge, select the "Keeper of Secrets" history.
