Chapter I[edit]
Head to the North over to the Scrye. This will open the gate in front of you that is holding you back from progressing.
Go inside the gates that open and approach the book there. Interact with it to move forward.
Chapter II[edit]
Start going forward to the South, down the corridor in front of you.
Follow it forward carefully. You will find it leads to a large room.
Head to the Southern half of the room. You will find some Seekers there waiting for you.
Defeat them, looting the bodies for spell tomes and books. Continue to the East.
Turn to the North and go up the ramp there. Follow it on forward.
This will lead you to an extending bridge. Look to the left-hand side of the Northern archway to find the Scrye to extend the bridge.
Get across it and then follow the arching path over to the Eastern door. Wait there for the bridge to rise up and cross over it.
The path forks here. The Northern side has a number of books and Soul Gems.
Going to the right, South, and down the ramp will lead to Chapter III.
Chapter III[edit]
Head around the pillars to the South. This will lead to a large room with a number of staircases in it. Instead of going straight ahead, immediately head over to the left and take the ramp there up.
Taking this path up to its top will lead you the Scrye you need to use. This will extend the staircase in front of the entrance that you need.
Go on down to the entrance and go on up the newly extended stairs. Be wary because at the top of them is a Seeker. Be sure to take a moment to check the contents of the table on the right. You can find some useful Soul Gems and books.
On the far side, you will find more Lurkers. Head over to the South.
Take the stairs up and then follow the ramp to its top.
At the top is a Scrye. Activate it to open the gates nearby the entrance of this area.
Go up the ramp and then turn to the South. You will find stairs there that lead up to another Scrye.
Activate it to open the gate to the East. Drop down to the stairs below and go through the now open gate.
Go over to the North and then follow the corridor there. You will encounter a pair of Seekers. Defeat them.
Follow the corridor over to the East. Head on down it to the "dead end." As you approach the back wall, it will expand to the East.
Going to the end of the new expanded hallway will give you the choice of 2 chapters: Chapter V and Chapter VI. Visit each in turn.

Chapter V[edit]
Head forward to the Scrye in front of you. Activate it to open the gate which is across from it. Inside though is a pair of cloaked Seekers that you will need to deal with.
Kill the Seekers then you should be able to get into the other rooms after a time. In them you will find skill books that you can read. Head back to Chapter III after that.
Chapter VI[edit]
After you arrive in the chapter, head to the North and then turn West with the corridor. Ahead of you are two more chapters. Up to the left is a dead end.

Chapter VII[edit]
This will take you to a small island with a Seeker.
Defeat the Seeker, check the table on this island to collect some more Soul Gems and some books. Now, go to the Northern side and activate the Scrye there to clear the way forward.
Turn to the Southern side and interact with the book there to return to Chapter VI
Chapter VIII[edit]
There will be a Seeker directly in front of you when you arrive. Kill it and then start moving forward.
Go up the ramp and over toward the landing. You will be attacked by a pair of Lurkers. They will emerge from the pools of fluid on the sides of this platform at the end of the bridge.
Defeat the Lurkers and activate the scrye in front of you. This will open the final gate.
There are some books off to the side of the Black Book itself. Collect them and then interact with the Black Book to choose your power from it. Remember, you can always re-read this book to select a different one at a later time.
Shortcut[edit]
If you have boots of Waterwalking (or spell or a lot of health potions, there is a very fast way to get through this black book. Head past the first scrye in front of you and around the gate to the right.
Head across the water that you find there. Only with either Waterwalking or a lot of health potions, and head over to the platform in the fluid.
On this platform you will be attacked by a Seeker. Defeat the Seeker and then head over to Northern side of the island. Interact with the scrye to move onto the next chapter.
Turn to the Southern side and then go over to the book. Use it to move to the next chapter in this black book.
In this chapter, you will want to turn to the left and access Chapter VIII.
When you arrive, expect to deal with a Seeker. Kill it and head to the west, up and across the bridge.
On the far side of the bridge are 2 pools of fluid. From them will emerge 2 Lurkers
Kill the lurkers and head over to the Scrye. Interact with it to open the gate in front of you.
Go on up the ramp. You will find a pedastal with the Black Book itself. To its left and right are scrolls, books and Soul Gems. Collect them and then interact with the book to claim your rewards.
