"Ask the Herbalist about buckthorn" is a quest objective in the main story quest "The Beast of White Orchard" in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Captain Peter from the Nilfgaardian Garrison wants you to hunt down the Griffin.
He mentioned a herb called "Buckthorn" that has has a very strong scent and can be used to lure the Griffin.
The Local Herbalist should be able to help. Go to the Herbalist's House.

The herbalist's name is Tomira.
Tomira's House is located west of the Village of White Orchard, and east of the Sawmill
Enter her house and speak to her.

Strategy Guide/Tips[edit]
- When speaking to Tomira about Lena, choose the dialog option "Griffin do that?" and you will receive a secondary quest called "On Death's Bed". If instead you answer "Looking for buckthorn", you will ignore that quest.
- Instead of talking to Tomira, you can go directly to the riverbed and get the Buckthorn. If you do so, this objective will be skipped and Tomira's House will be inaccessible.
The Beast of White Orchard Quest[edit]
- Ask the Herbalist about buckthorn
- Find some buckthorn on the riverbed using your witcher senses
- Ask the hunter where he found the bodies
- Use your witcher senses to find the hunter
- Kill the wild dogs
- Talk to the hunter
- Follow the hunter
- Examine the site of the Nilfgaardian soldiers' death using your witcher senses
- Follow the Nilfgaardian soldiers' tracks using your witcher senses
- Search the griffin's nest using your witcher senses
- Talk to Vesemir
- Prepare to fight the griffin
- Meet Vesemir in the field where you plan to ambush the griffin
- Kill the griffin
- Take a trophy from the griffin's corpse
- Collect your reward from the Nilfgaardians
