"Missing in Action" is a secondary quest (sidequest) in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
It is one of the sidequests you get at White Orchard, during the Prologue.

Starting the quest[edit]
Quest is bugged. Duplicate Dunes and Hussars will be at the farm after quest completion. There are three different ways to start "Missing in Action":
- By reading a Notice on the White Orchard Notice Board ("Brother Missing")
- By talking to Dune Vildenvert at the Ransacked Village (map)
- By stumbling upon Bastien and Rhosyn at the Overgrown Cabin
Quest Log[edit]
As it turned out, Geralt was not alone in searching White Orchard for a lost loved one. The witcher also found the notice of a peasant who was seeking his brother. The brother had left home to take up arms against Nilfgaard. The forces of the North and the Black Ones had then clashed in a great battle near the brothers' home village, and the peasant had not heard from his brother since.

Geralt went about finding Yennefer methodically. He searched every inch of every field and dale near White Orchard. Though in the end it was not this searching that led to his reunion with the sorceress, it did lead another interesting discovery. He came across two wounded soldiers in a hut near the battlefield - one from Nilfgaard, the other Temerian. It turned out they had fled the field of battle together. Though they lived their in enviable harmony and confraternity, they warriors could not remain in the hideout permanently — they needed food and a medic's help. The Temerian thus asked Geralt to put them in contact with his brother, Dune, who might be able to help.
Geralt found the wounded soldier's brother and conveyed the good news. This deed saved a man's life - and earned Geralt a few coppers.

Walkthrough[edit]
Begin the quest by reading the Brother Missing notice in the Notice Board of White Orchard. Then, locate Dune Vildenvert at the Ransacked Village. Follow Dune and the dog Hussar to the Battlefield. Clear any Ghouls there, then use your witcher senses to find the corpses that have Temerian Shields near them and examine those corpses. Hussar will pick up Bastien's scent from one of those corpses. Follow Hussar to the Overgrown Cabin to the west. Enter the cabin and speak to Bastien and Rhosyn to complete the quest.
Alternatively, if you go to the Overgrown Cabin before reading the Brother Missing notice or talking to Dune Vildenvert, than Bastien will ask you to find his brother. In this case, just go to Dune in the Ransacked Village and tell him that his brother is alive, and that will complete the quest.

Consequences[edit]
- If you do not complete this quest before leaving to Vizima, then Bastien and Rhosyn both die of starvation. You find their bodies at the cabin.
- If you help Dune find Bastien, they later all move to a farm east of the White Orchard Village. When you visit the farm you will find them all working there. The Dog will also be at the farm. If you convinced Dune to help Rhosyn, than Rhosyn will be at the farm as well. Otherwise, Rhosyn dies of starvation in the cabin
- If you start the quest by going directly to the cabin instead of reading the notice or talking to Dune Vildenvert, you will save Bastien, however Rhosyn dies.
