"Use your Witcher Senses to examine the well" is a quest objective in the witcher contract "Devil by the Well" in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

In one of the abandoned houses near the Well, you found a corpse of a man who was brutally murdered

Drag marks indicate that there might have been yet another body

Those drag marks have let you to the Well

You should use your witcher senses now to help figure out what is going on.

Examine the well with your Witcher Senses

In particular, notice a rope on one of the corners of the well

When you examine the rope, a cutscene will trigger and this objective will complete.

When you return to the Well you will find that the Noonwraith has appeared there, and you will have to fight it.

"A Noonwraith. Wonder what's it doing here."
"Blood stains, almost faded. But the line's taught, something's not right"
"A corpse. Hanged by the bucket rope."
"Wide pelvis, small jaw - a woman. Around thirty, judging by teeth. Left arm's missing. Need to cremate the remains. Gotta find the object that binds her to this place before I do, though. Hm, arm fell away. Additional weight? Was she wearing something heavy? Gotta jump down there. Hope I don't break my legs."
