The cat is a pet in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, found in many port towns (such as Havana).
Cats weren't as domesticated then as they are now, and can often be found wandering about town. They were a sort of communal pet, as villagers would put food and drink out for them to make sure they were well cared for.
