To Shield Surf, Jump (X) while holding a shield, and then press A while in the air.

Strategy Guide/Tips
- You don't have to unlock the Shield Surf ability, Link knows it from the start. Hold ZL, jump, hit A while still in the air.
- Shield Surfing is a quick and fun way to descend the tall mountains in the game.
- Surfing on the grass consumes some durability
- Surfing on rocks consumes more durability
- Surfing on snow does not consume much durability
- Use cheap shields such as the Pot Lid to shield surf, especially on rough terrain, so that you don't damage your better shields.
- Shield surfing is featured in at least one minigame which involves racing a Goron down a mountain.
