Should we refer to the playable characters as "Heroes", or as "Classes"? I think TF2 refers to them as classes?

== Overwatch subreddit and watermarks ==

Does anyone here know how to remove watermarks for the images? I posted on the /r/overwatch subreddit and they removed my post and said they wont link our community in their community links section because of the watermarks. The watermarks dont bother me but I figure we can use the extra exposure from being linked on the subreddit so was wondering if there was a way to remove them - [[User:Bastion|Bastion]] 15:39, 14 November 2014 (EST)

:This sucks :( I think we deserve to be represented in the navbar just like the other wikis. and I dont think they should remove any posts (unless the user is spamming). I hope theyre not singling us out for whatever reason. BTW there are some other Overwatch related subreddits (memes, trade, lfg, etc) maybe we can message those other subreddits and ask them to please place us on their sidebars? I had a look and seems like the mods in the other Overwatch subreddits are not the same mods as the main so maybe they will be more receptive and we wont run into the same issue. :::::Hey guys, Admin here. The watermarks were introduced around a year ago, because users here complained that everyone was using their work without giving credit to them. Users spend time locating a relevant picture for the page (whether it is from a game or an official source), take screenshots, sometimes even edit the images, so they were not happy when other sites used those without permission. We added the watermarks to protect the work of the community and since then we've had a lot less complaints about people just ripping images from other users and uploading them as their own.

:::::Therefore, I cannot remove the watermarks. I could, however, make a bot that will add a note/disclaimer to all current and future Overwatch pages in which images appear that "all images are property of Blizzard Entertainment and taken from official sources such as playoverwatch.com unless otherwise stated". I hope that would make it acceptable in the eyes of the subreddit.

I also messaged them the other day. /u/Shuubawks also gave me the same watermark story and tried to tell me to use a different wiki (where is the so called "Neutrality" they were talking about when a mod there tried to promote specific wikis via modmail, and censor others for some arbitrary reason.) but '''HERE IS THE PLAN: '''Like one of the users above said, we will just have to ask the "satellite" overwatch subreddits to add us. They will be more receptive towards us, remember that we are part of the community. And we have one of the best subreddits. Explain the situation politely, how we became "unwelcome" in the main, see if they are more receptive. If they do agree to add us in the sidebar, ask that we get added in '''FIRST POSITION''', that would go a lot towards showing some support to our community and countering the lack of exposure we get in the main. Though make sure none of the mods in the related subreddit belong to the main, as they will just sway the other mods against us. :: /u/Shuubawks also told me to use other wikis. I was thinking like "WTF are you telling me what sites to use?" But I didnt actually say that to him because he is a mod and I didnt want to get banned. Instead I explained to him why I do not use the sites he was suggesting. yeah I know, kinda humiliating :( BTW he named 2 specific wikis which he said I should use. I'm going to PM you the names of those wikis he named, curious if he suggested the same ones to you?

:: And I agree about the Swaying. Like we've talked to mods from tons of gaming subreddits and noone ever cared about the watermarks. Suddenly ALL the mods in this subreddit believe that the watermarks are some sort of evil, enough to censor us completely. I was like posting about our subreddit, and /u/Shuubawks removed my post like a minute later like he was looking out for that. I mean the subreddit is a community, why not let the redditors upvote and downvote? If everyone doesnt like the watermark, then they can downvote us. But instead the mods wont even let us introduce the wiki for those who might be trully interested in it. Luckily many from the community know about us and are part of our coommunity, theyre probably wondering why its not in the community links section. Anyway again regarding the swaying, there is NO WAY that suddenly all the mods independently decided the watermark was such a big issue. It was probably 2-3 mods swaying the opinion of the others. So I agree its a lost cause to ask any subreddit with those mods to have us in the sidebar. I am actually glad the admin did not agree to removing the watermarks, they'd have probably just come up with some other reason as to why we shouldnt be there.

:: Anyway if we look at the positive side, I agree that maybe this whole situation will make the related subreddits more sympathetic and place us as the first link and it will serve as a counterbalance to how they're treating us in the main.
