You need to kill 3 hive in very rapid succession with a Sniper Rifle, Fusion Rifle or Shotgun. Taking on masses of Thrulls is the best option with a high power Shotgun or Fusion Rifle to punch through their ranks. A Sniper Rifle only works with any that can penetrate their targets ... or cause explosions.
