You can lockpick doors in Divinity: Original Sin

Once you have the lock picking ability and some lock picking items, (i.e Lockpick) a character will be able to pick the locks of doors and chests (if this is something you plan to do often, it may make sense to drag the lock picking item from your inventory to a permanent place in the Status Bar). Simply use the lock picking item and then click on the door or chest in order to begin the lock picking process
