Cash in Far Cry 3 is a resource used to purchase numerous commodities on the island.
Cash can be exchanged at a weapons store for guns, ammo, attachments, paint jobs and explosives.
You get cash by finding it in the environment, stealing it from pirates, or looting it from loot chests. You can also sell found loot and skins in exchange for cash.
