Gears of War: Judgement boxart

Gears of War: Judgement is a spinoff from the main Gears of War franchise starring supposed fan-favorite character Daimon Baird.

The game gets its subtitle from its plot, which sees Baird under military arrest and on trial. As he goes through the trial attempting to prove his innocence, Baird's story is told through flashbacks.

Gameplay[edit]

Gears of War: Judgement continues the series tradition of cover-based third person shooting with few significant changes.

Developer People Can Fly have stated at past press events that their main focus for the gunplay in Judgement was speeding up character movement and aiming speeds, making shooting more snappy and opening the game's competitive offerings up for potential eSports coverage in the future.

Story[edit]

The story of Judgement is a prequel to the original Gears of War, and sees protagonist Daimon Baird standing trial for treason.

He and his squad intentionally disobeyed orders to hunt down a dangerous Locust general, and are now facing the consequences.

Baird must prove his squad's innocence through flashbacks, during which the bulk of the game will play out.

Multiplayer[edit]

The largest change to the Gears multiplayer formula in Judgement is the new OverRun mode.

This mode sees one team of players taking on the role of the COG and the other taking on the role of the Locust. Both sides will have various classes associated with them, each having a unique and important role on the battlefield.

The COG soldiers are tasked with shutting down Locust Emergence Holes, while the Locust must protect the holes.

Aside from OverRun, standard modes such as Team Deathmatch and Execution return.

All modes are 5v5.
