This guide specifies the order and timing in which actions are taken during players' turn in Gwent: The Witcher Card Game.
It is meant for new players, or for intermediate players who want to get a refresher on the phases of the game.
Number of Rounds
- A game of Gwent has a minimum of two rounds, and a maximum of three rounds
- Game ends after two rounds if the same player won both rounds.
- If a different player won each of the first two rounds, a third round will determine the winner.
Draft
- Draw 10 cards from your deck
- You can draw multiples of your bronze units/spells
Mulligan
- You can re-draw a max of 3 cards
- Right click to skip the mulligan phase if you're satisfied with your hand.
- A card you discard gets "blacklisted" and won't be drawn again.
Round 1
- Who goes first: A simulated coin toss determines which players goes first.
- During your turn, you can take one of the following actions:
- Play card
- Use leader ability
- Pass
- Exceeding the maximum time limit will end your turn and a random card will be discarded from your hand.
Round 2
- Draw 2 more cards into your hand
- You may mulligan one card
- Who goes 1st: The player who won the first round
Round 3
- Draw 1 more card into your hand
- You may mulligan one card
- Who goes 1st: The player who won the second round
- Player with most strength on the game board when both players are out of cards is the winner of the round
