When you slay a Dragon in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, as a Dragonborn, you absorb a dragon soul.

Dragon Souls are used to unlock Dragon Shouts. Each Soul is used to unlock a word that you have found. This is done from the Shout menu inside the Magic Menu. Each must be unlocked manually.
