The Fall of Dubai[edit]

In the first days there was no fear. Sandstorms had come before. The damage had been minimal. This would be no different. But the storm did not stop. Whole days would pass without seeing the sun. We were told to remain calm. That all was well. And like fools, we listened.

We sat silently as the first plane went down. We watched calmly as sand stripped paint from our homes. We waited patiently as our world fell down around us. And how was our virtue repaid? Abandonment. We had toiled, keeping Dubai alive through the storm. But out bosses, owners, leaders, those who draped themselves with entitlement had fled the city. And with them, our hope for escape.

Then He came, without reason or reward. Konrad and his damned 33rd. We were not their families. And this was not their home. And still they cared for us. We were gathered together, those who were left. Us and our protectors. They led us away from our homes, believing all was well. Because a fool is quick to hope and slow to learn.

The storm came upon us without warning or mercy. I cannot tell you what happened. All I saw was the storm. All I heard was its roar. Somehow, we made it back to the city. To shelter away from those we left dead and buried by the storm.

Now we are all refugees. Us and the damned. Our identities and ideals stripped away by the storm, like flesh from the bone. And with them, our hope for escape. These are the last days. Fear is all we know.

Squad[edit]

Captain Walker[edit]

"I DON'T WANT TO SAY BEING A SOLDIER IS A WAY OF LIFE, because honestly, that's the kind of bullshit recruiters sling at high-school kids. But there is something to it… You gotta understand, being soldier isn't like having a job. You're just one gear in a much larger machine.

It's not a way of life, it's how we're built. We're just not wired for the day-to-day civilian world.

WE GO IN, WE DO WHAT'S NECESSARY, THEN WE DIE."

Lieutenant Adams[edit]

“WHEN I'M ON THE JOB, I'M NOT A PERSON. I'm a tool, and I have to adapt to whatever the mission requires. If I bring my baggage into the field, it'll just get in the way.

Only thing that matters are the words 'Mission Accomplished.' The sooner I hear those words, THE SOONER I CAN GO HOME AND GET BACK TO BEING ME."

Sergeant Lugo[edit]

“SO HERE'S THE THING... I NEVER ACTUALLY THOUGHT THEY'D LET ME IN HERE. Sure, I speak six languages. Gimme a broken radio and a paperclip, and I'm MacGuyver. I can deadeye a squirrel at 2000 meters. And, to top it all off, I'm the sexiest thing ever poured into a pair of ACUs.

WHEN YOU ADD IT ALL UP, IT'S OBVIOUS THEY'D WANT ME IN DELTA FORCE”
