When a Titan has sustained too much damage, it enters what is referred to as a Doomed State.
In a Doomed State, the Titan has precious few seconds left to live. Its remaining operating time is represented by a Doom Counter, a meter which appears and steadily drains until the Titan dies.
When the Titan dies, it explodes, but up until then it remains operational. Players can choose to stay in the Titan and attack enemies, but this will risk death as they may not be able to get out of explosion range on time.
