Captain Traunt is a Boss in Borderlands 3.
Description[edit]
- It is time to start fighting the Captain.
- Like any of the Maliwan heavies, he is vulnerable to shots to the core that is sticking out over his shoulder.
- This will also show what element that he is using to attack: either Cryo or Fire.
- With Cyro attacks, he can put down a lingering cyro field that will slow the Vault Hunter and do damage over time.
- He can also create an ice wall that needs to be moved around to damage him, which he can explode launching numerous icicle projectiles in various directions.
- He can also create Cyro Homing Sphere are will chase after the Vault Hunter to explode on them, slowing them.
- One more Cyro attack is a hovering Cyro sphere that will "spit" ice shards in random direction.
- With his fire attacks, he can create orbs of fire that will either spew smaller flames or homing in and chase after the Vault Hunter to explode on them.
- Either style of the hovering orb can be dispelled with enough damage to it.
- Of course, through the fight, minions will appear: Assault Trooper, Flash Troopers.
- Thin out the minions, but save a few for an easy Second Wind.
- Once his shield is gone, thankfully, it will remain gone.
- He will move all over the central area, attacking with either his Flamethrower and Ice Thrower.
- Damage Traunt can take some work, since he can resist either Cyro or Fire damage, depending on the mode.
- Use of Shock is recommended at first to better cut through his shields.
- After that, normal bullets or the opposing element weapon can go a long way to increase damage.
- Once you get through his shields, he will start more readily changing between Cyro and Fire.
- Watch out for which mode, and if possible, adjust your shield as appropriate.
- Assault from the raised walkways of the arena to make things a bit easier to avoid most of his attacks.
- As much as possible, try to attack Captain Traunt to do heavy damage to him.
