"Follow the chamberlain" is a quest objective in the main story quest "Imperial Audience" in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Chamberlain has asked you to follow him for your audience with the Emperor.

Walkthrough[edit]
Follow the Chamberlain through the corridors of the Royal Palace.
At some point, the Chamberlain will teach you how you should bow before the Emperor.
The choices are:
1. Right leg forward, left hand on chest
2. Left leg forward, right hand on chest <----
3. Left leg back, hands at the side
4. This is absurd
Choose "Left leg forward, right hand on chest"
Eventually you make it to the Emperor's Office.
You will be prompted to "Bow before his Imperial Majesty, the White Flame Dancing on the Graves of his Foes, Emhyr var Emreis!"
You can choose between "Bow" or "Don't bow".
This will have an effect on the next few lines of dialog, but won't have any major effect on the gameplay, so just choose what you feel is right.
After bowing (or not bowing), keep talking to Emperor Emhyr who tells you why he summoned you to his palace.
When you are done talking to him, continue following the Chamberlain who takes you to the Great Hall where you can choose to talk to >Morvran Voorhis about politics.
Keep following the Chamberlain who takes you through the Royal Garden to the entrance to Yennefer's room

Chamberlain: Black suits the gentleman. Does the outfit satisfy the gentleman?
Geralt: A studded soublet and a sword on my back - that's what would satisy me. But tough, when in Nilfgaard...
Chamberlain: Yes?
Geralt: It's a saying. So what now? Powder my nose?
Chamberlain: No need. The gentleman's complexion is light enough. The gentleman is to stand before the Ruler of the North and South. I must confirm that he knws how to bow.
Geralt: Confirm away.
Chamberlain: Please watch. Leg extended, hand flat, head down, chin to chest. The gentleman will rehearse.
Chamberlain: Hmm, lacking fluidity and grace. But we've learned to expect less of Nordlings. Come with me.
Chamberlain: Follow me, if the gentleman pleases. Please keep close. There are many honorable guests in the palace, whom the gentleman...
Geralt: ...disgusts?
Chamberlain: Need not bother.
Strategy Guide/Tips[edit]
- When the Chamberlain is teaching you how to bow, if you choose incorrectly then the quest does not fail, you just keep trying until you bow the right way.
- In the Emperor's office whether you bow or not has no implications on the gameplay, it just affects some dialog lines.
