How to start quest[edit]

Speak to the Eternal Fire Priest who's praying next to a shrine west of Mulbrydale in Velen

Objectives[edit]

Walkthrough[edit]

First, talk to the Priest of Eternal Fire near the shrine west of Mulbrydale. Then, you will have to go to three pits and burn the bodies there using Holy Oils which the priest gave you. See maps for pit locations. The pits will have Ghouls and Rotfiends near them which you will have to clear before setting the corpses on fire.

In the last pit, you will run into Titus Gielas who is being attacked by some Ghouls. Kill the ghouls before they can kill Titus. Then talk to Titus and find out that he was smuggling drugs for the priest, but the priest double crossed him. Then go back to the priest who has moved to a location near the bridge leading to Novigrad.

Talk to the priest. You will have the option to confront him about Titus (unless Titus died or you did not believe him). The priest will offer you a bribe which you can accept or reject. If you reject the bribe, you will have to kill the priest and his guards. Either way, quest concludes, and you will receive experience and a certain amount of crowns (see "Rewards" section below)

Rewards[edit]

You get some experience as well as coin reward depending on your quest decisions:

Resolution Reward Notes
Do not confront the priest about Titus Gielas 20 crowns You get this reward if Titus died or if you did not believe Titus when he tried to tell you that the Church of Eternal Fire were responsible for double-crossing him.
Accept the bribe from priest 60 crowns You no longer have the option of attacking the priest after you accept the bribe.
Reject the bribe from the priest 200 crowns You loot the 200 crowns from the priest's corpse.

Quest Log[edit]

Witcher3FuneralPyresQuestLog.jpg

"Though his contract giver had proven to be a hypocrite and a drug dealer, Geralt accepted his coin. As the ancient proverb says, pecunia non olet."

Witcher3FuneralPyresQuestLog2.jpg

"The witcher followed the priest's directions and went to burn the bodies. Doing so revealed the clergyman's true motivations: lighting the fire he had requested would also burn evidence of the priest's involvement in the fisstech trade"

Strategy Guide/Tips[edit]

  • In terms of reward, it is best to kill the priest at the end as he carries 200 crowns on him. The other quest resolutions do not offer as much coin.
  • If Titus Gielas dies or if you do not believe his story, then you will not be presented with the option to be bribed or kill the priest.

Dialog[edit]

Geralt: What do you want?

Priest: Rejoice, for even a creature as depraved and base in nature as you can serve the glory of the Eternal Fire. Someone must see to the corpses on the battlefield. Necrophages defile those not already rotting in mass graves. This is not right.

Geralt: That's to be my good deed for the day?

Priest: A handsomely profitable one, I might add. I know your kind don't work for free.

Geralt: All right. I'll take care of it.

Priest: This will count amongst your merits. The more good one works in life, the more... hallowed things are. Yes. Splendid. Here are the holy oils. Douse generously and ser alight, understood? I wish it to flare up to the sky. For the glory of the Eternal Fire and all that.

Geralt: Once I've incinerated the bodies, where'll I find you?

Priest: I shall be near the bridge to Novigrad
