Investigate Distortions across Sol in Destiny 2: Monuments of Triumph. Complete Distortion Events, collect 35 Strange Matter, follow the Signal, and defeat the Shield of the Distorted for rewards.

Summary

Learn about the Distortions that have begun to appear throughout Sol. Lodi asks you to investigate them. Complete at least 1 Distortion Event, claim the chest, collect the Strange Matter. After, you need to collect 35 Strange Matter for it to transform. This will give you a mysterious Signal to follow. Do so to find a chest guarded by a Boss. Defeat the boss and claim the loot within the chest.

Walkthrough

Talk to Ikora Rey

Talking with Ikora to begin the Distortions Quest

Go into the Bazaar and over to the balcony that Ikora Rey is on. Approach and talk with her. She will explain she wants you to talk with Lodi about the Distortions he’s been tracking.

Discuss Distortion with Lodi

Head over to the Western end of the Bazaar (be sure to pet Archie on the way). Under the awning, you will find Lodi. Just approach and talk with him. He’ll share what he knows about the Distortions so far. He wants you to investigate them.

Claim a Distortion Chest

Time for the work to begin. Look for the present location that is having distortions appear. This changes on the Hour. Travel to that Destination. Find a Public Event to participate in. However it’s completed, you will then be able to participate in the Distortion Event itself.

There are a few phase to the Distortion event. The initial part has the Guardians fighting against a few waves of enemies. They will be appearing in the same area as the Public Event. Stay around there. Fight on through the enemies that come after you. After 3 waves, you will have a little different task to complete.

One of the corruption growths from the Distortion

Having defeated them, there are 3 growths that will appear around the center of the Distortion Area. These need to be found and destroyed. Each will grant a small boon, refilling an ability or your Super. Destroying the 3 Corruption Growths will resume the waves coming into the Public Event area.

You need to complete things out to Wave 9. When you get through to the final round, then the boss will appear. For a full completion (and the best rewards), you will need to defeat the Boss in the time remaining.

Collecting the Loot from completing the Distortion Event

Collect 35 Strange Matter

Once you have completed the Distortion Event (and anytime you’re in a Destination with Distortion active), the Destination Material will change to Strange Matter. For this hour, when you open chests and collect the Destination Material, you will get the Strange Matter.

After completing the Distortion Public Event, you will receive a bonus to Strange Matter Collected for a set amount of time.

Follow the Signal

A location for the Strange Signal within the Dreaming City

The destination the Signal leads to will change based on location. Likely for each instance. A marker will appear on your Destination Map.

Defeat the Nine-Touched Enemies

Arriving at the marked location you will see a group of enemies. Among them is a boss, the Shield of the Distorted. You will need to defeat this boss to access the sealed off chest sitting at the location. You can’t just knock them off the ledge. You need to get through their shields and then their health bar.

There can be phases, but this varies based on the Boss and Location. Most of the time, as their health hits the markers on the bar, more enemies will be summoned in that you can fight.
