Make an Offering

To start this quest, you will need to talk with Ferul Ravel. He’ll explain that Sheogorath will accept an offering of a head of lettuce, a Lesser Soul Gem, and a skein of Yarn. He does talk about the rain too, but it’s not required. You just need the offerings.

  • Lettuce is very easy to get ahold of. Most food vendors sell it. You can find it in every city.
  • Yarn is very common to find inside houses but can take a little searching to find.
  • The Lesser Soul Gem would have you go to almost any of the Mages Guild (if you’re a member) to purchase one. Otherwise head to A Warlock’s Luck to buy one. They’re a decently common drop from mages as well

Once you have the 3 items, head to the statue of Sheogorath and make the offering. He’ll explain that he wants the Hero to trigger the K’Sharra prophecy in the nearby town of Border Watch.

Travel to Border Watch

From Sheogorath’s Shrine, you will want to start traveling to the South. It's a minute or two to get there.

Learn about the K’Sharra Prophecy

Talking to Ri'Bassa about the K'Sharra Prophecy

Once you’ve arrived in Border Watch, you will need to learn about Ri’Bassa. Ri’Bassa is the local Shaman who tends to the town. Find him by talking with residences of the Town. He can usually be found in the Border Watch Inn.

Ri’Bassa’s Schedule

  • 10pm-4am – Sleeps in his house
  • 4-am-11am – Wanders Town
  • 11am-1pm – Eats in Border Watch Inn
  • 1pm-7pm – Wanders Town
  • 7pm-9pm – Eats in Border Watch Inn
  • 9pm-10pm – Returns to House

Talk to Ri’Bassa about the K’Sharra. Tell him you want to learn about the K’Sharra Prophecy. He will only give the information to the Hero if he has a disposition of 60 or higher. He responds better to the dialogue choice “I am a traveling scholar” than “I enjoy ridiculous prophecy,” but both can get you the information.

Ri’Bassa will explain there are 3 signs for the K’Sharra Prophecy. He explains the first 2 signs: a Plague of Vermin, and a Plague of Famine. When asked about the third part of the prophecy, he just refers to it as the Plague of Fear but won’t tell the Hero anything about it.

Cause the Plague of Vermin

Talking to S'thasa to learn about the Olroy Cheese

It only takes a little effort to cause the Plague of Vermin. Make your way into the Border Watch Inn. Take a moment and talk with the Innkeeper: S’thasa. The Hero can talk to her about her Cheese Collection. This will inform you of the cheese of choice: Olroy Cheese. This cheese sits in its own display case just to the right of the bar.

Getting the cheese can be a little tricky, but not very challenging. You can either pickpocket the Key from S’thasa, be sure to save BEFORE attempting, or just break into the case with a lockpick. The case is locked (Very Hard).

With the Olroy Cheese in hand, you’re ready to cause the Plague. Step outside of the Inn and head just to the North. You will find a Cooking Pot. Go over to the Cooking Pot and activate it. This will put the Olroy Cheese in there and the smell is legendary. This immediately summons a large group of rats to come rushing in.

With the Rats present, just watch and wait for a time. The Hero needs talk to Ri’Basa to see if he believes this is part of the Prophecy.

Ri’Basa places the Rat Poison he has out to kill the Rats. The Hero needs to take this Rat Poison (and optionally kill all the rats). This is crucial for the next step of the “Prophecy.”

Cause the Plague of Famine

The Rat Poison sits on the ground

With the Rat Poison in hand, it’s time to trigger the second of the Plagues. You need to find the sheep pen. From the Cooking Pot, you will need to travel to the South. You’ll find the Sheep Pen.

Just head into the Pen and interact with the trough in the middle of it. The Hero will put the Rat Poison into the feed. This will (eventually) kill all the sheep. The alternative is for the Hero to end the sheep themselves.

Get to the center of Border Watch (and duck)

The Plague of Fear begins!

There’s a marker that sits in the middle of Border Watch now. Just head over to the marker. Stand there for a moment (and optionally duck). There will be a rain of burning dogs. Everyone in Border Watch panics.

Return to Sheogorath’s Shrine

Fast Travel back to Shrine of Sheogorath for an easy time. Otherwise it’s a bit of a run Northward. Once there, just head to the Statue. He’ll be happy with the chaos that’s happened. He’ll reward you with his trademark staff: the Wabbajack.
