Summary

“Bear Season” is a short side quest at the Shardrock farm, between Skingrad and Kvatch. Thorley Athelred needs help eliminating a group of bears that are eating his flock of sheep. The Hero needs to eliminate 6 of the 10 bears nearby to complete the quest. Turn in the bear teeth to Thorley Athelred to complete it.

Walkthrough

Meet Thorley Athelred

Thorley Athelred entering his Sheep's pen.

Make your way to Shardrock Farm, found to the Northeast of Kvatch, and to the West of Skingrad. It’s just to the Northeast of Miscarcand. You can VERY easily reach it by traveling West from Meridia’s Shrine.

Once there, you will need to find Thorley Athelred, the farmer. He’ll explain that he started raising sheep but the herd has been getting picked off by bears that have moved into the area. Talk to him about “Bears” to begin the quest itself.

Thorley Athelred’s Schedule:

  • 12am-6am – Sleeps in house
  • 6am-9am – Breakfast
  • 9am-6pm – Tends Sheep
  • 6pm-9pm – Dinner
  • 9pm-12am – Wanders House

Defeat 6 Bears

Oblivion Gate may not be present. Bear nearby pond close to Shardrock

Scattered around the farm at a total of 10 West Weald Brown Bears. There are a few easily visible to the Northeast of the farm, nearby the pond there. There can be Nirnroot around that pond as well.

Ambush by Bear approaching Shardrock Farm

A bear does patrol just a little to the North of the Farm, there’s a chance it will come after you BEFORE the quest starts. Taking out this bear (and any other) does count as preemptive progress.

A bear to the West of the Oblivion Gate

Taking down the 1-2 bears nearby the pond. Turn to the West after that.

Another pair of Bears can be found to the West here.

Bears to the West of Shardrock

Move more to the West of the farm itself to find another few bears if needed. More can be found to the North of Shardrock as well.

Be sure to loot each bear body for the West Weald Bear Fangs

Return to Thorley Athelred

When you have collected at least 6 West Weald Bear Fangs, you can complete the quest. Just head back to Shardrock. Find and talk with Thorley Athelred once again. He’ll take 6 Bear Fangs and reward you with a Combat Skill Book

  • Blade
  • Block
  • Blunt
  • Hand to Hand
  • Heavy Armor
