Make an Offering to Molag Bal

Travel to the Shrine of Molag Bal, found to the West of the Imperial City. Once there, speak with Amir to begin the quest itself. He will tell you to make an offering of a Lion Pelt. Go to the statue and interact with it once you have the Lion Pelt.

Getting the Lion Pelt can take a little work. They begin appearing at level 12. They can found randomly outside Farm, Plain, Rainforest, Highlands, and the Mountains. They are easily found along the exterior of Fort Caractacus, the nearby Unmarked Cave. If you haven’t completed the Fighter’s Guild Quest: “A Rat Problem,” it has 6 Mountain Lions that will appear.

Once the offering is made, Molag Bal will give his command: get the pious Melus Petilius to kill you with the Cursed Mace to appease the Daedric Prince.

Locate Melus Petilius in Brindle Home

For this step, you will need to travel to the Brindle Home, it is found to the Southwest of the Shrine of Molag Bal.

Once you make your way to Brindle Home, you will find a few people to talk to. Ask them about Melus Petilius to be directed to him. He has a house nearby town.

Melus Petilius’s Schedule

• 8pm-4am – Sleeps in house
• 10am-3pm – Mourns at wife’s grave nearby house
• 3pm-8pm – Paces House

Provoke Petilius

With Melus Petilius located, it’s time to provoke the man into attacking you. Take some time to save your game. This gives you a safety in case you defeat Petilius.

Wait for him to be mourning at his wife’s grave, between 10am and 3pm. Take some time to unequip your gear.

Start by dropping the Cursed Mace from your inventory between him and his wife’s grave stone. Now, you need to attack Melus Petilius. The best option is use an unarmed strike to provoke him. It’s possible to kill him, so be mindful of the strike you use.

Once you’ve provoked him, just stand by and let him attack you with the Cursed Mace. Before your health is completely drained, you will be teleported away.

Receive your Reward

You will then be talking with Molag Bal. He will give you the Mace of Molag Bal for your efforts here.
