Walkthrough
Entrance
Approaching the entrance of the Onyx Caverns, you’re likely to encounter a Swamp Animal coming for the Hero. There can also be a Bandit nearby as well. You can find a number of Bog Beacon, Clouded Funnel Caps, and Green Stain Caps around it as well. When you’re ready, just head inside the Caverns to begin exploring them.
Onyx Cavern
Just inside, on the left (North), you will find a section of wall that can be interacted with.
This will be the exit you’ll be taking at the end of the run through the cavern.
Head to the chamber at the end of the tunnel. Expect an animal here. Search the room, collecting the Mushrooms that you want. Go to the Northeastern corner and head through the tunnel to the next chamber.
This next chamber has a few Bandits. Take them down to explore the chamber. There’s 2 in the Southeast Corner and 1 patrolling the nearby tunnels. This leads to a break in the path. There are 2 paths: 1 to the East and 1 to the North.
If you go to the North, that leads to a chamber. There are a few barrels and crates you can loot here. Go to the Eastern side and onto the rise there. You can find a Locked Chest (Average) sitting on the rise surrounded by mushrooms.
With that, head to the East. Carefully jump over the pressure trap that sits just before the entrance into the large chamber. Stepping on the trap causes a pair of Spiked Balls to swing down toward the Hero. There are a few animals scattered around the pit in the center of the chamber. Go to the Southeast to find a rise with a Chest on it. After that, head to the Southwest to encounter another Bandit. Search around
After exploring the chamber, head to the South and through the tunnel there. This brings you to a smaller chamber with a few bandits. There can be some animals as well. Look to the Northern side to find a rise with a bed on it. Look to the head of the bed where you can find a Chest. Grab its contents and then head to the West and through the tunnel.
In this chamber, there are a few Bandits. Be mindful of a patrolling Bandit that is moving through the Western Tunnel. Head to the Northern part of this chamber to find a chest sitting there.
This leads to the final chamber of this level. The larger portion of it is to the North. To the South you’ll find a loop that has a chest in the Western side. There are 4 bedrolls scattered in the middle of this chamber. After exploring there, head through the door to the West. This will bring you to Onyx Cavern Bridge.
Onyx Canyon Bridge
Inside this second area, there are a few Bandits in the first chamber at the door.
The Bandit closest to the door is the Boss, so be ready. Head to the Northeast. This chamber has a larger portion of it with another Bandit and animal in the middle of the chamber. Getting to the middle, look to the left to find a Chest sitting just behind the barrel there.
This second chamber here is massive with a lower passage. Avoid falling down (for the moment) and go to the Northern side of the chamber. Pick off the Bandit that’s there. After that, drop down into the passage in the middle of the room.
In this narrow passage, you will want to be careful around the middle of it. There’s a tripwire that will drop some logs down from above you. Head to the East in this tunnel and up the slope into the larger chamber connected to it.
Inside this chamber, you can find a Bandit moving around this chamber. Take them down and go onto the rise. You’ll find a Chest sitting on it. After that, head to the Northern tunnel and follow it downward.
It will start to head upwards after that. Follow it carefully upwards. The careful is because of a Tripwire sitting nearby when the tunnels turns to the West. Jump over it to avoid the logs that will come crashing down. This will bring you back to the large chamber. Look to the Southern edge of the tunnel entrance nearby the campsite to find a Locked Chest (Average). That helps you finish this whole cavern.
Finally, drop down into the lower path of the large chamber. Turn to the West and head through this tunnel to the door at the end of it. Going through that door will bring you to the closed off section from before.
