Summary

A short mine found nearby the Guardian Stone in Skyrim, on the path from Helgen to Riverwood. It has a number of bandits inside. You can find Iron Ore Veins, Fly Amanita,

Location

Found to the Southwest of Riverwood in the foothills of the nearby mountain.

Walkthrough

Entrance

Getting to the entrance of the mine, you will find a few barrels nearby an empty cart. You can also expect a Bandit being nearby here as well. They’re easily defeated.

Mine

Getting inside the mine, you will want to head along the right-hand side of the entrance. Go down the side with the wooden walkway. Going down the dirt side, there’s a tripwire at the bottom. Triggering that tripwire has a number of boulders fall from the ceiling above.

Go around the corner at the bottom of this entrance, head to the left and over to the wooden walkway in front of you. Here, there are 2 paths forward, with a 3^rd that will be accessible shortly. If you go to the right here, taking the ramp down, you will find a small camp with a cooking pot.

If you go forward, into the opening at the foot of the walkway. Follow this up to the left and around the corner. Get to the balcony of this area, you will need to head to the wood railing along the Eastern side. Sitting close to the middle is a lever switch. It sits to the left-hand side of the middle pillar. Activate this switch to lower the drawbridge

With the drawbridge down, go back to the walkway you crossed. Turn to the newly lowered drawbridge and head across it. Dropping the drawbridge will out a pair of Bandits. Head to the South across it.

Going down this path, you will find the last chamber of the mine. There are a number of Fly Amanita scattered here along the sides of the wall. There is also a last bandit standing guard. Be sure to loot their body for the Embershard Mine Key. The lock on the Southern Door is Novice.

The lock on the Northern door (with the treasure room) is Novice. Take some time to loot here because there are a number of sacks and barrels with supplies, a weapon rack, and a table with a dagger on it. There are some gold coins, as well as a Spell Tome: Clairvoyance.

Go to the West and head up the slope there. You will find a massive chamber. There is a bit to find here. Head over to the right, North. You can find a path going down the ramp to find a blacksmith forge and the Bandit below. Searching around here you can find a weapon rack on the Eastern wall. Look to the right of the weapon rack to find a table. Go to the right-hand end of the table to find a Light Armor Forging, a Smithing Skill Book. Be wary since there is also a Bandit Archer here. They will be on a bridge above the lower area and likely peppering you with arrows. Put a little effort to defeating them with arrows of your own.

Head to the East from the lower area to find the next stretch to explore. Ignore the left-hand alcove, it just has a bucket. It’s the one in the middle that has anything of value. Look to the table on the right-hand side to find a coin purse. After that, head to the South then turn west. This will lead you to the walkway the Archer is likely on.

Getting to the top of the initial walkway, at least note the dining area to the South. Deal with the Bandit Archer first though. There isn’t much in the dining area itself, it’s what’s nearby that’s important. Head to the right and down the path found there. This will lead you to a ledge with a Locked Chest (Novice). sitting at the Northern end of it. After that, you have found everything useful in here. Just make your way back out of the mine.
