If the temperature drops too much, Link may become Cold and start taking damage. Cold Resistance protects Link from such damage. Wear warm clothes such as the Quilted Shirt or eat dishes cooked with Spicy Peppers to increase Link's Cold Resistance.

"Cold Resistance" is one of the resistances in the game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Overview

Cold resistance affects how much damage Link stake when temperature is too cold. The temperature is indicated by the temperature gauge near the Minimap. The more it is on the left (Blue) side, the colder the temperature is.

The higher Link's cold resistance is, the less damage Link will take. Link might take no damage at all if his Cold Resistance is high enough to handle the current temperature.

Strategy Guide/Tips

  • Be sure to monitor the temperature gauge and also anticipate when you reach cold areas such as the top of mountains.
  • Most of the time you will have to balance your equipment, for example sacrificing armor for increased Cold Resistance. Plan ahead for the environment you will be going to.
  • Link can increase cold resistance by:
    • Putting on warmer clothes such as the Quilted Shirt.
      • These clothes will specify in their stats that they grant cold resistance.
    • Eat certain food dishes such as those cooked with Spicy Peppers.
  • Lighting a Campfire also helps Link deal with the cold. He can light a fire using Firewood and Flint.
