Summary

Each Maverick Stage contains 1 Armor Upgrade. X can only unlock Armor Upgrades with Upgrade Chips. Each costs 15 upgrade chips. Mega Man X must have 15 upgrades in his possession to obtain the upgrade.

• The specifics of the capsules can change between versions. The location for the “buster upgrade” in v. 1.0.0.5 had the double jump upgrade in v. 1.0.0.7.

Upgrade Capsule – Hydro Axolotl Stage

Requirements: None

This Capsule is accessible when you get to the pair of submarines along the water. To reach this capsule, you will need to go along the tops of the submarines and over to the wall. Climb up with the wall grip. Collect the Upgrade Chip sitting on the ledge. Jump Dash up to reach the wall above.

• Double Jump or Uppercut makes this much easier.

Upgrade Capsule – Arson Vulpine Stage

Requirements: None

This upgrade is found hidden in a wall. X needs to be navigating this section with lava and the timed vanishing platforms.

Upgrade Capsule – Bog Snapper Stage

Requirements: None

This is found after you’ve encountered the first spider that is chasing X. Dash through the course, climbing over the metal pillars blocking you. Get to the blind jump at the end. Don’t dash jump off, instead slide down the wall. Keep clinging to the wall to find a hidden passage going to the left. Follow that to the end to collect the Upgrade Capsule there.

Upgrade Capsule – Rail Raccoon Stage

Requirements: Arson Vulpine’s Weapon

Continue through the stage until you spot the platform with a LOT of explosive containers. You need to jump over to the explosive containers and blast them with Arson Vulpine's Weapon. Once 1 container explodes, it'll be a chain reaction. The final containers reveal the Upgrade Capsule.

Upgrade Capsule – Subterra Scorpion Stage

Requirements: Double Jump, Air Dash, + Stellar Primate’s weapon

Play through Subterra Scorpion’s stage until you find this corridor with the “indestructible” rocks on the left. You need to equip Stellar Primate’s weapon. Charge the weapon up and fire it on the rocks. It will break through it.

Go into the newly opened passage, dropping down and head to the right through the hallway.

Upgrade Capsule – Tundrion Bear Stage

Requirements: None (Uppercut/Double Jump/Air Dash for ease)

Continue through the stage until you reach this ride armor just past the archway, sitting nearby a ledge. Either use the Ride Armor to gain height and then jump out of it (Hold Up while hitting Jump) or Use the Double Jump/Uppercut to gain the needed height to grab the top of the archway.

Climb up the wall on the left until you reach the top. On the level portion, a very well timed dash jump to the right can reach the snow-covered platform with the Upgrade Capsule. You can climb onto the wall above the level platform and use that to Air Dash to the right and reach the platform as well.

Uppercut Capsule – Stellar Primate Stage

Requirements: Tundrion Bear’s weapon

This can be found during the Ride Armor section. You will find a weakened wall just as you reach the floor. Use the Tundrion Bear’s weapon to break through the wall. Drop into the shaft and fall to the bottom. You’ll see the capsule sitting to the right.

Upgrade Capsule – Skyblade Squirrel Stage

Requirements: None

Continue through the stage until you reach the room with a lot of hovering platforms. There is 1 set of platforms that go to the left. Climb up and quickly move along them tot he left to reach the large platform. Carefully deal with the Pusher enemy and get to the left-hand end of the platform. Wait for the moving platform to come down to you. Jump onto this platform and ride it upwards. Go to the right at the apex of the platform’s cycle. Jump to the hovering platform to the right. Jump from there onto the platform to the right. And you’ll find the Upgrade Capsule.

Activating this attack requires that you use the Alternate Fire button.
