Lucien Lachance sends you off to the Dead Drop to find out what's been happening

“I have been confronted by Lucien Lachance, who told me I have inadvertently been killing off the members of the Black Hand! I must now travel to the city of Anvil. Once there, I should wait near the barrel behind the statue in the pond, and see who comes to set up this fake dead drop. I must then confront this person and find out why they’ve been tampering with my contracts.”

Learn the Truth

Having heard from Lucien Lachance, it’s time to get to work. You need to learn what’s been happening with the Dead Drops. You are sent off to Anvil.

Once you arrive at the Northern gate of Anvil, head over to the East. You will see a pond with a statue in it. Go over to the wall behind the statue. Look behind the statue to find an empty barrel. Crouch/sneak behind the statue.

There is a Nirnroot that’s by the Eastern base of the Statue

You will need to wait while hiding to draw out the person who’s making the change: Enilroth. He explains that he was paid to make the change. A robed figure met him outside the City and paid him to do this.

He will explain that you can learn more about this person by going into the Anvil Lighthouse.

Get into the Lighthouse Basement

Head through Anvil and over to the Dock Gate. Once at the Anvil Docks, head South then East. Go up the sloped stairs to reach the Lighthouse itself. Head to

You will need to find and talk with Ulfgar Fog-Eye. He can be either inside the building or up at the top of the Lighthouse. Once you find him, you have 2 options. You can attempt to Pickpocket him to get the Key. Or you can talk with him and demand the Key.

Explore the Lighthouse Basement

The door to the Anvil Lighthouse Basement

Once you have the Cellar Key, you need to head back down to the lower portion outside of the Lighthouse. Go over to the Western side and look along the base of the Lighthouse. You will find the door that leads down into the Cellar.

Inside the basement, go around the corner, past all the barrels. There is a corpse sitting nearby the bed. Ignore it and head over to the West and for the door. This is a Locked Door (Average) that you need to get through.

The Traitor's Diary in the Lighthouse Basement

Through the door you will need to deal with an Attack Dog. Take them down. You can search the chests to the left of the door for items. Go to the Eastern side of the room after that. Look in the middle of the room to find the “Traitor’s Diary.” Glance at the book to learn what’s inside.

Head to the Eastern side of the room where you can find “Mother’s Head.” This can be taken and used for a little thing later on. Leave the basement of the Lighthouse.

Meet Lucien Lachance at Applewatch

Make your way back out to Applewatch. Once there, just head inside the house. You will meet the remaining members of the Black Hand.

Unfortunately, Lucien is dead. You are confronted by Arquen. She will explain some from the Black Hand's perspective. She will ask you to speak to her between 12am-3am to begin the ritual to restore the Black Hand.
