Oblivion Remastered – Fort Farragut

Description

This is one of the many forts that is found in the Nibenany Basin. This small fort is a hideout for Lucien Lachance. You can encounter a number of Dark Guardians throughout. While they are tangentially related to the Dark Brotherhood, they are not part of it, so you can defeat them without worrying about your standing.

Walkthrough

Fort Farragut - Exterior

You can find a Base Ring of Speed outside the fort. It’s found along the South-Southeastern Wall. Climb up to the second level by using the hill outback of the fort. Jump onto the wall in the front. You can see Cheydinhal from the gap in the wall you’re in. Look down to the small ledge in front of you. Step onto this ledge carefully. Follow it to the left. You’ll find a pile of coins and in the middle of it is the Base Ring of Speed.

Getting into the fort is simple enough. Head into the main portion of the ruins. Look to the Southeastern wall. You’ll see the door you need to head through.

Fort Farragut

Inside the fort itself, start by going forward around the corner. You’ll see a gate in front of you and a lever to the right. Pull the lever to raise the gate.

Just inside this first chamber there are 2 Dark Guardians. 1 is on ground level, 1 is on a walkway in the middle of the room.

There is a Locked Door (Hard) to the Southwest. Head on through the corridor behind it. To find a small cave. As you reach the end of it and get to the hallway, you’ll encounter another Dark Guardian. The hallway splits into a T-intersection. To the right is a deadend and to the left the passage continues with a tripwire trap sitting across the floor. There’s a second tripwire at the very next archway too.

Jump over the tripwires carefully and go down the corridor’s Northeastern branch. There’s a Dark Guardian pacing around here so be mindful of it. Go through here carefully because there is a spiked pit along the next corridor. If you do fall in, just face to the Northeast to find the “stairs” out.

Just head over the pit and around the corner to the right. You will come to a split in the path. There is a door to the left and a slope down to the right.

You can start by going to the right and down the slope. There’s a Dark Guardian in this corridor so be wary. Going through the stone passage, you’ll find another trap that’s ahead of you. There’s a trap sitting across the hallway here. Dash through to quickly pass through the traps.

Just around the corner from there, go to the right. Another Dark Guardian sits along this passage. Be mindful of the pressure plate that sits in the middle of this corridor. It’s close to the turning point, so be wary. If you go forward from here, you’ll find you’ve brought yourself back to the 2 doors.

Turn around and head through the door on the left and go into the hallway. Head down it to the Northwest. Getting to the end, you’ll find another Gate. You’ll see a lever on the right-hand side to open the Gate.

This will bring you into Lachance’s Chamber

Lachance’s Chamber

Lachance's Chamber

Inside Lachance’s chamber, you can find a barrel with poisoned apples to the right of the trapdoor. These respawn every 72 hours (3 days).

The Tree with the Shortcut.

This Trapdoor can be used to quickly access Lachance’s Chamber. You just need to remember the tree nearby the fort where it resides.
