Walkthrough

Talk to Hannibal

Start by approaching and talking with the Arch-Mage, Hannibal Traven. He’ll explain things are going very poorly with the council. You can begin the quest, “The Necromancer’s Amulet” by asking him about the Necromancer’s Amulet. Apparently Caranya insisted on removing it from the Arcane University.

Travel to Fort Ontus

It’s time to make the trek on out to Fort Ontus where Caranya claimed she’d be headed. It’s found to the Northwest of Skingrad.

Find Caranya within Fort Ontus

Once inside the fort, there is a bit to do. Take the stairs down and around the corner to the right. You’ll find a Mage that you can talk with. They’ll just direct you to Caranya, who’s much deeper in. Go forward and across the walkway to go through the next doorway. There’s another Mage below the walkway and another found at the foot of the walkway, just through the door.

Any of the mages will have a very useful item. They all have a Fort Ontus Key. This will open any locked door within the Fort.

If you down into the area below the pit, you can find a bookshelf to the Southwest and next to it a Chest. You can find a door leading into the Understreets. This will lead you into the proper section of it to progress the quest.

Just through the doorway is another locked door that’s to the West. Through the gate you will find a drop. Just next to the Statue, you can find a Locked Chest (Average) to the South.

Head to the North and look to the West to find a Locked Door (Very Hard). Go down the hallway to the chests in the chamber. Continue to the North after that.

This will lead you into the large chamber of this level. Go to the Southern wall to find an Old Wooden Door. Open it up and go down the hall beyond it. At the end of the hallway, you will find a Locked Door (Hard). This leads to a different section of the Understreets.

Fort Ontus Understreets

Once through the door in the lower area, you will be in another hallway with a Mage inside it. Just to the South, you can find a number of Locked Doors (Very Hard). These can be used to quickly reach where Caranya is. There is a gate can be opened from this side, there’s a lever to the left of it.

Either way, you will want to get into the large chamber with Caranya wandering in the middle of it. You can ask her about “Necromancer’s Amulet.” She makes it clear that she works for Mannimarco and not Traven. Now EVERY mage in this Fort is hostile to the Hero.

Take down Caranya and loot her body. You need to take the Necromancer’s Amulet from her.

Return the Amulet to Hannibal Traven

Head over to the East and over to the Gate. Look to the right of the Gate you’ll find a lever to open the Gate.

Go through the Gate and over to the East and into the Cave underneath the Fort. There’s a Necromancer here. Continue to the Southeast to find another Necromancer. Now head to the East and through the open doorway.

Follow the corridor to the North and into a burial chamber. Look around the edges of this portion to find another Necromancer. Drawing attention here, you will draw in 4-5 more Mages.

Go to the East and through the corridor here. Turn to the left to find a few chests. Turn to the right (North) after that to find a door back to the main body of Fort Ontus.

Through the door, go to the North and up the stairs. There is a Necromancer Mage just outside the door. Another Necromancer is on the Eastern stairs (or nearby it). There are 2-4 more Necromancers nearby that can come as back-up.

Go to the West and take the stairs on up. Head over to the left and then go to the South. Get to the end of it and then go back across the walkway. Take the stairs on up to leave the Fort.

Return to the Arcane University. Talk with Hannibal Traven.

Rewards

Once “The Necromancer’s Amulet” and “The Bloodworm Helm” are completed, you can be promoted to Master-Wizard, and 1 Fame for completing THIS quest.
