Walkthrough
Chasing Rumors

Once you have fully transformed into a Vampire, you will have the option to start looking for a cure. If you ask about it, you will be directed toward the Arcane University. You will want to find and talk with Raminus Polus.
Talking with Raminus Polus in the Arch-Mage’s Lobby about the Vampire Cure will start this quest and direct you to the 1 known vampire (if you’ve been going through the Mages Guild Questline), Count Hassildor.
Consult Count Hassildor

Make your way to Castle Skingrad. You will need to find and talk with Hal-Luirz. She can be found in the County Hall of Castle Skingrad between 7am-8pm. Approach and talk with her. She will ensure you can talk with the Count once you mention you’re here to learn about a “Cure for Vampirism.”

She will ask you to wait in the County Hall. Just set a Wait for a day or so, and when the Count arrives you’ll automatically be knocked out of it. Talk with the Count about the Vampire Cure. He’ll explain what’s happened: He and his wife were transformed into Vampires. He embraced it while she did not. He wants the cure for her so she can find release.
- If Count Hassildor doesn’t show up, you will want to go up the stairs in the County Hall and get into the Lord’s Manor. Once inside, search around to find the Count.
Meet Melisande

Meeting Melisande
You will need to make your way to Drakelowe. This is Melisande’s little farm. You can easily find it by traveling West from Fort Naso. You can find Drakelowe along the Eastern shore of the Reed River.
Once there, head through the front door. Go inside and talk with Melisande. She will acknowledge that she can cure Vampirism. But for her to do that, she needs something that’s harder for her to get: Soul Gems.
Soul Gems for Melisande
To start, Melisande will ask for 5 Empty Grand Soul Gems. There are 12 Grand Soul Gems that can be collected if you are below level 12. At level 12 or above, merchants will sell Grand Soul Gems.
- 3 – Chorrol Mages Guild
- 3 – Arch-Mage’s Lobby, Imperial City Arcane University

Ingredients for Melisande

When you’ve turned in the Grand Soul Gems, Melisande is ready to help cure your Vampirism. There are a few ingredients that Melisande will need for this potion: 2 Shoots of Bloodgrass, 6 cloves of Garlic, 5 Leaves of Nightshade. Additionally she will need the blood of an Argonian, and the ashes of a Powerful (specific) Vampire.
Bloodgrass
Bloodgrass is easily found inside any Oblivion Gate. If you’ve gone into Oblivion and collected ingredients, you’ve got some. Otherwise, you will want to head for the Main Ingredient in the Imperial City’s Market District. This shop is found on the Southern side. You can also purchase Nightshade here.
Garlic
Easily the most common ingredient of all that you’ll need. Check your alchemy stash to see if you have the needed 6 cloves on hand. Otherwise, you will want to head out to Skingrad. Check the basements of numerous houses to find braids of Garlic. Each braid will yield 1 clove of garlic. Almost any Inn will have Garlic available as well.
Nightshade
Nightshade is very common throughout West Weald. You can easily found all the Nightshade you need just wandering the woods. If you don’t want to invest that time, then head for the Main Ingredient in the Imperial City Market District. This shop is found on the Southern side. You can also buy Bloodgrass here.
Blood of An Argonian

Safely collecting the blood of an Argonian
To start this one, talk with Melisande. She will give you an Enchanted Dagger. She will explain that you just need to stab an Argonian once.
This can be one of the trickier ingredients to collect (if you’re after avoiding a fine).
- The easiest path is to visit Peyrite’s Shrine. When you arrive here the Worshippers of Peyrite are frozen. Just approach and stab the Argonian (Er-Teeus).
- You will want to head to Veyond Cave, which is filled with Argonians
- Common Marauder Archer
- If Scar-Tail is still alive after “The Renegade Shadowscale” quest, he’s a valid target
- Using Purification in the Dark Brotherhood Questline: Ocheeva and Teinaava
Ashes of a Powerful Vampires
Talk with Melisande about this one to get more details. She will explain about Hindaril. This Vampire has been confined to Redwater Slough. She will mark the location on your map so you can hunt him.
Redwater Slough

The location of Redwater Slough on the World Map
Inside the cave, you will find a pit that has a sealed coffin. Just past that, you can find a tunnel leading deeper inside the Slough. You can take a little time to search around the area around the pit to find a few coffins that you can loot. After searching the upper area, go into the tunnel beyond the coffin.
This will bring you to a T-Intersection. Take a moment to go to the South to find an Undead. Look to the West to find another Undead. Turn and head to the East. Dive into the water to reach the next chamber here.
This pool of water has a few Slaughterfish inside it. Jump out of the water and search around the outside of the pool. There are a pair of Vampires in this area. Go to the South to find a Chest sitting in a corner going to the West in the Southern section of the cavern. After, look to the East, past the fire, to find another rise with another Chest. Be sure to look on the rise in the Northeastern corner of the room. There is a chest there with the Red Slough Key. This will let you bypass the Locked Door deeper into the area.
With all that area explored, head back to the Water and dive back in. You want go low in the water and head to the Western wall to find the path back out.
After you emerge from the water, you will want to head to the back to the East. Take the first turn to the North that you can. Continue along this path until it turns to the East. This will lead you to a Locked Door (Very Hard). Unlock this door and head through.
Inside this locked chamber you will find a split path: a branch that goes North and a branch that goes East. But both lead to the Northern-most chamber.
If you go to the East, you will head up a slope and through a tunnel. This leads to chamber with a sealed coffin in the middle of the first portion of the chamber. Head to the North to find an animal and an Undead. Go to the North and then head to the West. Follow the tunnel as it bends to the North.
There is a small alcove along the way to the East. Inside here is another Vampire to deal with and a bright brazier. You can search the area to the East for a Chest sitting just past a small ridge there.

Follow this path to the North to reach the end of it. Inside this chamber, you’ll find Hindaril. Engage and defeat this Vampire. Remember, Vampires are weak to Fire damage, so you can use that to make the fight easier. It does help that he comes after you with just his fists. Collect the “Ashes of Hindaril” from him. Exit out of the Cave through either side to the South.
Return to Melisande

You can either turn in the ingredients as you collect them or all at once when you have. You can turn them in to Melisande by talking to her about them. Then talk to her about the "Cure for Vampirism."

Melisande will ask you to return in 24 hours. Pass the day at your leisure and return to her. Talk with her about “Vampire Cure” to receive 2 Vampire Cures.
- Give her an extra hour or two so she’ll be back in Drakelowe. Showing up within 24 hours itself, she might be in her secret basement.
Return to Castle Skingrad

Once again, you will need to head back to Castle Skingrad. Once there, go and talk with Hal-Lirurz. She will lead you from the County Hall out into the courtyard.

She’ll go over to a section of the Northwestern wall and reveal a hidden passage. When the passage is open, head inside, taking the stairs down and entering the door there.

Inside this hidden chamber you will find Melisande and Count Hasslidor. Approach and talk with Count Hasslidor. He will take the other Vampire Cure potion and explain what’s happening. Step back and watch as events play out.

Return to Count Hasslidor
Once again, you will be asked to wait a day. Pass the time however you want. Return to the County Hall and then talk with Hal-Lirurz once more. She will go to get the Count. He’ll come down and join you in the County Hall in a moderate amount of time. Talk with him when he appears. He’ll thank you for the service you’ve done him. He’ll reward you with Gold, based on your Level.

- Just like before, the pathfinding can break. If that happens, go up the stairs in the County hall and explore the Lord’s Manor again to find the Count.
